Skin cancer surgery, especially on the face, can result in significant deformity and scarring. SRT-100 treatments can be used on most areas of skin without risking deforming or scarring the skin, making it one of the most popular skin cancer removal systems among our Tucson, Arizona patients.
What is the SRT-100?
The SRT-100 is a cutting edge radiotherapy technology which treats basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas with minimal damage to the surrounding skin. It uses low intensity x-rays in very small, repeated doses.
The SRT-100 procedure requires no anesthesia and is generally painless and comfortable. It is similar to having a dental x-ray done. Each treatment takes only a matter of minutes. Typically, patients will need two treatments weekly over the course of several weeks. Occasionally, some patients experience a reaction similar to a minor sunburn after treatments.
Is The Treatment Covered by Insurance?
Most policies cover SRT therapy. Since insurance policies vary, it is always best to check in advance if there is any question. The office staff at Dyson Dermatology can help you confirm your benefit coverage. Even if your policy does not typically cover SRT therapy, we may be able obtain a prior authorization from your insurance carrier.
If you think you would benefit from SRT treatment or are concerned that you may have skin cancer, please schedule an appointment with Dyson Dermatology. During your consultation, your health care provider will diagnose your condition and discuss treatment options. If you have a non-melanoma skin cancer, you may be a good candidate for non-surgical skin cancer removal with SRT-100.
